It is hard to separate the identical Barnes' twins as they continue to match each other's accomplishments, this season was no different as both made their first Olympic Biathlon Team.

Tracy: 2002 World Junior Championship Silver Medal in Relay... media darlings of the Olympic Biathlon team appearing in newspapers, and magazines including Teen People, Durango Magazine, and were featured on the TODAY SHOW…both suffered from mono for most of the Olympic season, resulting in sub-par performances and cut short their season….shooting perfection and consistency are their trademarks…. SOCCER IS THEIR PASSION….each considers the other sister her best friend

Brunton Olymipian Shoots To Title

Lanny Barnes wins biathlon sprint
Foul weather hits U.S. nationals in Maine
FORT KENT, Maine - Conditions went from bad to worse at the North American and U.S. National Biathlon Championships on Saturday as a Nor'easter worked its way up the Maine coast starting late Friday night, dumping more than a foot of snow and sleet on the 10th Mountain Ski Lodge.
Not that it mattered to Lanny Barnes, who for the second day of competition in a row found herself on top of the podium after finishing first in the women's 7.5-kilometer sprint in both the North American and U.S. National Championships.
Lanny Barnes skied the course with a time of 32:40.2 with one miss shooting in the standing position.
Tracy Barnes finished fourth overall for the day, but her ski time of 34:28.6 with two penalties in the prone position was good enough for the third place spot on the podium for the U.S. National Championships.
The two Barnes' sisters are former Durango residents. They are the daughters of Deb and Thad Barnes.
Inclement weather is nothing new for the Barnes who spent last year in Europe on the World Cup circuit as members of the U.S. Biathlon Team.
At one point, the unseasonably warm winter made it impossible to even make snow for a race in Germany.
Instead, the host country was forced to ship in truckloads of ice used to pack fish and line the course with it.
On Thursday, competition in Fort Kent took place in the rain.
The forecast for the final day of competition with the pursuit race is for snow showers and temperatures in the 30s.\
"We haven't skied in temperatures below freezing yet this year," Tracy Barnes said following Thursday's race.
Fifty-two biathletes from around the U.S. and Canada are participating in the championships this weekend.
